The Gardener’s Folly is a delightful and detached cottage set within Omaka Lodge’s expansive grounds.  At a spacious 90m2, the Folly provides plenty of space for guests to enjoy the luxurious interior, while the generous covered deck allows immersive views of the serene surroundings.  The large kitchen features everything you’d expect for a comfortable stay – or for our personal chef to prepare you a dinner to remember!

Interior fittings exemplify the sustainability ethos that sees the Folly entered in the 2025 Master Builder House of the Year awards.  Inspired initiatives abound – the original ceiling has been reimagined as timber floor, bordering panels of compressed recycled milk cartons.  The main mantle was rescued from one of Auckland’s earliest grand homes; the large plaster reliefs repurposed from an old Wellington commercial building.  A chapel donated leadlight windows, and antique furniture has been repadded and reupholstered with sumptuously soft materials.

Designed and decorated in unmatched style, the Gardener’s Folly presents guests with two ensuite bedrooms featuring beautiful antique furnishings and art, and a sumptuous queen bed with luxurious linen.  Each tiled ensuite features a walk-in double shower with double rain heads and a glass roof allowing you to shower beneath the stars.
